If you have been following my blog for some time now, you’d know how much I LOVE ♥ Sidney Sheldon. I just discovered that I haven’t read a few of his books (I thought that I’ve read all his books) and the recent book releases by Tilly Baghshawe but her writing is no where compared to Sidney Sheldon’s. When you grow up reading the finest works of such a legend, you expect more from every book you read. And after reading Sheldon’s works, which have the same impact on me even if I re-read them, I just cannot get over his books. I mean I wish there were a gazillion more mysteries to delve into by him, and then my life would have been perfect! 🙂
Well, here are the top five of Sidney’s books that I can read over and over again:
1. Rage of Angels
What do you expect in a book? Romance? Maybe some mystery? Some mafia and crime? Well, you name it and this book has it! To sum this book up in one sentence, it is a roller coaster ride. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll be stunned, hell you’ll even cheer for Jennifer Parker, the protagonist. I mean, I literally LOVED her. I sympathized with her even. Her story goes something like this:
A worldwide bestseller first published in 1980, this novel tells the story of Jennifer Parker, a successful lawyer who is loved by two men, one a politician, the other, a mafia don.
That is all I could find on goodreads, but this book is much more than that. A legendary character, intriguing plot, amazing character development and more amazing back stories, this book is everything you could ever ask for!
2. If Tomorrow Comes
If my life ever goes sideways and I have to become a con woman, hands-down I would try my level best to be Tracy Whitney. She is a bad-ass con woman and someone you would adore!
This is a story of intrigue and revenge. Tracy Whitney is young, beautiful and intelligent – and about to marry into wealth and glamour. Until, suddenly, she is betrayed, framed by a ruthless Mafia gang, abandoned by the man she loves. Only her ingenuity saves her and helps her fight back.
I don’t know how but Sidney Sheldon always manages to create some legendary female protagonists. I am mentioning this fact here because in the books of present generation, you won’t find such strong characters. Also, most of the con movies that you would have seen so far will become meaningless in front of this masterpiece.
If you think that the life of the protagonist is perfect, then that is not the case at all! If you can think of a life where being dead would have been a better option, then that is how I would exactly describe Tracy’s life. How she came out of it, survived and turned it upside down, is a mystery to explore.
3. Tell Me Your Dreams
One of the ways in which Sidney Sheldon’s books have affected me the most is my ever growing love of a good lawyer-based murder trials. And mafia and crime. A good murder mystery can practically make my day (sounds creepy, but true!). And this book is one of those types.
Computer whiz Ashley Patterson is convinced she is being stalked. Coworker Toni Prescott has a penchant for Internet dating and little time for anyone else. And Alette Peters prefers quiet weekends in the arms of a beefcake artist. They know virtually nothing about each other–until the three women are linked by a murder investigation that will lead to one of the most bizarre trials of the century.
I don’t think that Sidney Sheldon has written even a single book that you can put down before finishing it, and this being one of them. The key element in this book is psychology. Also, be ready for a bizarre plot twist. This is one book that I am sure, you’ll never regret reading.
4. The Sands of Time
This is the story that is a bit different from his regular writings in terms of plot. And this story will also make you realize that Sidney has the ability to turn any kind of a story into a masterpiece. The reason I am saying this is because of the intricacy in the details of every story he weaves. This will make you feel as if he specializes in writing stories pertaining to those particular eras.
Four nuns find themselves suddenly thrust into a hostile world they long ago abandoned for the safety of the convent. Unwittingly they become pawns in a battle between the charismatic Jaime Miró, leader of the outlawed Basque nationalists, and the ruthless Colonel Ramón Acoca of the Spanish Army.
Four women – and the men they are forbidden to love.
Megan – the orphan, who feels an overpowering attraction to Jaime.
Lucia – the fiery Sicilian beauty on the run for murder – and Rubio Arzano, the freedom fighter who risks his life to save her.
Teresa – whose guilty conscience finally drives her to betray her friends.
Graciela – who bears a terrible secret that almost destroys her – and the courageous Ricardo who loves her.
From the same author of the books “The Other Side of Midnight”, “Rage of Angels”, “Bloodline” and “Windmills of the Gods”. The book is set in Spain and centers around four nuns and their unwitting involvement with outlawed Basque nationalists and the Spanish Army.
Did you get what I am trying to say? You’ll understand me more when you read this book.
5. Master of the Game
Have you ever read something that made your mind numb? Something so powerful that it took you days before you could actually start thinking sanely? I did and this was precisely the exact book that made me feel so. A totally unpredictable and un-put-down-able (if that’s a word!) book. This book revolves around the story of a hideous mafia family where each character has a dark secret of their own. More on this book here:

This book will make you obsessed. You will judge the actions of each character. You might even throw the book away in frustration. Yes, it is that kind of book. This book again, has everything you can ever ask for in a book!
